 On Exhibit

When rabbits were killed, they were skinned and the hide was draped over a piece of wood. It would be cut along the outside and rolled around a piece of wood. The hide would be twisted, and then it would be hung to dry and soften. The child was measured with a rope, and then another wooden frame was made and the hide would be tied to it. Next the sleeves were made. The hide was attached to the sleeves, while the rope used for the frame would be tightened a bit for the head section. Part of that piece is used for a pointy hood. Even if it’s very cold and the child is outdoors all day wearing only a thin undershirt, they wouldn’t be cold. These coats were made to be very warm.
