Hunting bags were very beautifully decorated. I can’t remember how they were made long ago, but when the white men came, that’s when I first saw the really fancy designs. I learned how to make them from observing others. The men would put their game inside them. Women liked to see the bags when the men came home from hunting. We women would rummage through them!

The women knew how to make these bags for their husbands. They were called “kettle bags.” That was because the men would bring their kettles and food when they went hunting.
